Fully Guided, Start To Finish

Chapter Three

Ethical Hunting & Conservation

We are deeply committed to ethical hunting and the principles of fair chase. Responsible hunting plays a real role in conservation — protecting habitat, supporting local communities and keeping wildlife populations healthy.

This is the country it protects: thousands of hectares of Eastern Cape bushveld, managed so there is still something here in fifty years.

Your Safari, Tailored

Whether you dream of stalking a kudu through Eastern Cape thickets, a hard-earned Cape buffalo in Zimbabwe, or a classic plains game safari, we build each trip around your goals.

Rifle hire is available, alongside luxury bush accommodation, evening bonfires and excellent cuisine.

Chapter Five

The Eastern Cape

The Eastern Cape is malaria-free, which is why so many first-time and family safaris start here. The country is thick valley bushveld cut by river gorges, and it holds kudu, bushbuck, nyala, warthog and eland well.

It is also within easy reach of the coast, so a week in the bush and a few days on the Garden Route fit into the same trip without a long transfer.

10
An elephant herd in the bushveld 11
Chapter Six

Limpopo & The Lowveld

Limpopo and the greater Lowveld are the classic bushveld of the north — hotter, flatter and thicker, with mopane and acacia running to the horizon.

This is the ground where buffalo, sable and the larger plains game are strongest. It is also where you are most likely to be near Kruger and its surrounding reserves.

12
Open semi-arid plains under a wide sky in South Africa 13
Chapter Seven

The Karoo

The Karoo is a different discipline altogether. Semi-arid, wide open and very quiet, it suits gemsbok, springbok, blesbok and black wildebeest — animals built for space and distance.

There is almost no cover, so the work is spotting from a height and then a long, exposed stalk. Guests who have only hunted thick bush usually find it the most demanding ground of the trip.

14
An acacia in the late light 15
Chapter Eight

The Season

Anthony hunts here from mid-February to mid-July, and the later months are the heart of it. The grass is short, the bush is open, water is scarce enough to concentrate animals, and the days are mild.

Summer, from November to March, is green, hot and often wet. The country looks its best and the birding is exceptional, but cover is thick and everything is harder to find.

16

Chapter Nine

Getting There

Most guests fly into Johannesburg or Cape Town and connect onward, or drive from Port Elizabeth for Eastern Cape safaris. We meet you and handle transfers from the moment you land.

South Africa is a big country and distances are longer than a map suggests, so the travel itself gets planned properly rather than left to work itself out.

18
A wide waterfall on the Zambezi River between Zimbabwe and Zambia 19
Chapter Ten

And Zimbabwe

We also operate in Zimbabwe, and for many guests the two countries pair naturally into one trip rather than competing with each other.

It is wilder, less developed country, and Victoria Falls on the Zambezi is close enough to fold into an itinerary as a few days at the end.

What We Hunt

Over the years I have successfully guided hunters in pursuit of some of Africa’s most sought-after species, building an extensive knowledge of African wildlife, animal behaviour, terrain and bushcraft — knowledge that becomes invaluable when tracking and hunting in the African wilderness.

How It Works

Fully Guided, Start to Finish

Every safari is fully guided from start to finish, ensuring that guests receive professional service, personal attention and expert hunting guidance throughout their stay.

Working alongside highly experienced trackers, whose bushcraft skills have been developed and passed down through generations, we follow fresh spoor, read the signs of the bush, interpret animal behaviour and create exciting hunting opportunities that immerse you in the true spirit of Africa.

Beyond The Hunt

Downtime Between Days In The Bush

A safari isn’t only early mornings on fresh spoor. Guests regularly build in a round of golf at St Francis Links along the Eastern Cape coast, and a scenic helicopter flight over the bushveld is a favourite way to see the terrain — and the game on it — from a completely different angle.

Whatever fills the time between hunts, it’s arranged the same way as everything else on your trip: built around what you and your group actually want to do.

Our Commitment

Ethical Hunting & Conservation

We are deeply committed to ethical hunting and the principles of fair chase.

The wildlife we hunt is the wildlife we work to protect.

We believe that responsible hunting can play an important role in wildlife conservation and sustainable game management by helping protect natural habitats, support local communities and maintain healthy wildlife populations for future generations.

Every hunt is conducted responsibly, with respect for the animal, the environment and the traditions that have shaped African hunting for generations.

Our Principles

  • Fair chase, every hunt
  • Conservation-first game management
  • Respect for the animal & the land
  • Support for local communities
  • Sustainable, healthy wildlife populations
